Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan is Bangladesh's greatest all-rounder. He emerged with a match-winning century and three wickets in the 2005 U-19 tri-series final. He became the fastest all-rounder to reach 1,000 runs and 100 Test wickets, and is one of only three players to score a century and take ten wickets in the same Test. He has held the No.1 ICC ODI all-rounder ranking and was Player of the Tournament in the 2012 Asia Cup and consecutive BPL editions.
In 2024, Shakib played for LAKR in Major League Cricket but was not retained for 2025. He later joined Atlanta Flames in MiLC as an international wildcard and returned to MLC in 2026 as a temporary replacement for MI New York. He has also featured in the PSL, ILT20, and LPL in 2025-26. In June 2026, he was appointed Bangladesh's ODI captain. However, his career has been overshadowed by political turmoil following the fall of the Awami League government in August 2024, leading to corruption inquiries, an arrest warrant, and his exile from Bangladesh. He last played for Bangladesh in September 2024.

Controversies Of Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib has faced multiple controversies throughout his career. In July 2014, he was banned for six months (later reduced to 3.5 months) for leaving to play in the CPL without informing the BCB or obtaining an NOC, citing a "severe attitude problem." He also clashed with coach Chandika Hathurusingha, sparking retirement rumours, and was fined and suspended for abusing umpire Ranmore Martinez over a correct decision.
In November 2019, the ICC banned him for two years (suspended for one) for failing to report a corrupt approach from a bookie in 2017. Most recently, following the fall of the Awami League government in August 2024, he faces corruption inquiries, an arrest warrant over bounced cheques, and remains exiled from Bangladesh, despite being appointed ODI captain in June 2026.
